UN official confident in Azerbaijan's success as COP29 chair

UN Assistant Secretary-General, the UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support, Marcos Neto affirmed confidence in Azerbaijan's ability to achieve significant results as the chair of COP29.

In a post on his X account, Neto highlighted the conference's focus on financial issues, emphasizing the need for a new measurable goal for climate finance, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

He noted that the green transition will require trillions of dollars, necessitating a system to define financial ambition, which should be agreed upon in Baku in November.

Neto affirmed UNDP's support for Azerbaijan and urged the international community to assist the COP29 chairmanship in achieving this crucial outcome.
