UN trains Azerbaijani officials for Enhanced Climate Transparency Reporting Ahead of COP29/PHOTO
The experts from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have conducted training in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku.
The training was held in the presence of representatives of the Azerbaijani relevant state agencies on May 6-7 as part of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in COP29, according to Azertag.
The purpose of the training is to contribute to the development of the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), a key component of the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) improved in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, COP29 lead negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev noted in his speech that the delivery of Biennial Transparency Reports by participating states, including Azerbaijan, is one of the priorities of the COP29 chairmanship.
In this regard, he called on the Azerbaijani relevant state agencies to contribute to the preparation of Azerbaijan’s Biennial Transparency Report as soon as possible.
During the two-day training, representatives of the UNFCCC secretariat informed participants about the main ETF elements, methods, procedures and guidelines in this sphere, as well as the use of new e-software in the process of preparing Biennial Transparency Reports.
