Azerbaijani multiculturalism showcased in Spain through exhibition, seminar
An international exhibition titled “Treasury of Wisdom” and a seminar on “Azerbaijan's Multiculturalism Model” were held in Malaga, Spain, from November 14-16, with the support of the Spanish Magos Foundation and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Spain.
The events highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering a society of religious tolerance and coexistence, demonstrating the country’s rich cultural diversity, Caliber.Az reports.
The exhibition featured a display of Azerbaijan's multiethnic and multireligious heritage, while the seminar provided a platform for prominent religious and cultural figures to discuss the peaceful coexistence of various communities within Azerbaijan.
Among the key speakers were Shneor Segal, the Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of European Jews, Catholic priest Vladimir Baha, and Robert Mobili, chairman of the Albanian-Udi Christian Religious Community. They shared insights into the lives of Jews, Christians, and other religious groups in Azerbaijan, emphasizing the freedom of religion guaranteed by the Azerbaijani state and the measures taken to protect religious sites, including synagogues, churches, and temples.
On November 16, the Magos Foundation hosted an event to mark the World Day of Tolerance. The event brought together representatives from various religious denominations in Azerbaijan, including Muslim, Christian, Albanian-Udin, and Jewish communities. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Shirin Ebadi and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Hedva Ser were also present, underscoring the global significance of tolerance and intercultural dialogue.
During the event, a delegation led by Ravan Hasanov, the Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre, was honored with an award in recognition of their outstanding efforts in promoting peace and fostering good-neighborly relations. This recognition highlighted Azerbaijan's continuous dedication to enhancing its multicultural image on the international stage, particularly in fostering dialogue and understanding among different ethnic and religious communities.
