India secures extradition of notorious gangster Mayank Singh from Azerbaijan PHOTO
On August 23, 2025, Indian authorities confirmed that Mayank Singh, one of the country’s most wanted criminal figures, had been extradited from Azerbaijan to India. Singh was arrested in Baku last year.
Officers from India’s Anti-Terrorism Unit transported Singh from Baku to Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand state, according to Caliber.Az.
He is the first gangster from Jharkhand to be extradited from abroad.
Singh had been on Interpol’s red notice list for several years. He has an extensive criminal record and was a childhood associate and member of the gang led by notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi.
Prior to fleeing India, Singh carried out high-profile crimes across Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. Authorities have filed more than 45 cases against him, including charges of murder, extortion, threats, armed assault, and criminal conspiracy.
Earlier reports indicated that a team of three officers from India’s Anti-Terrorism Unit had travelled to Azerbaijan to secure Singh’s extradition.
