Azerbaijan reports major gains in fighting cyberattacks on state institutions
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of Azerbaijan has revealed a noticeable decline in cyberattacks targeting government institutions during the first seven months of this year.
From January to July 2025, the agency identified 573 indicators of cyberattacks (IOCs), marking an 8% decrease compared to the same period in 2024, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Out of these, 206 cyber threats were uncovered and neutralised through internal investigations conducted by the Service. Meanwhile, 367 threats were detected as a result of incident investigations triggered by reports from various government bodies.
July 2025 saw a sharp reduction in cyberattacks as well, with only 69 incidents recorded—down 45% from July 2024.
In addition to threat detection, the agency blocked over 314 million malicious redirects on the national AzStateNet network. The central antivirus systems installed on end-user devices intercepted nearly 15.85 million malicious electronic documents, while the Sandbox protection system identified and blocked more than 62,000 such documents.
