Baku celebrates Pakistan’s Independence Day, with envoy praising bilateral ties PHOTO
Pakistan’s Independence Day has been celebrated in Baku with a gathering of embassy staff, public representatives, and invited guests.
The event opened with the raising of Pakistan’s national flag, followed by readings of messages from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting the day’s significance for the Pakistani people, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, extended his wishes for peace and prosperity to his nation and underscored the enduring friendship between the peoples of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. He also praised Azerbaijan’s continued support for Pakistan.
Reflecting on recent events, the ambassador recalled that in May, the Pakistani Armed Forces responded decisively to an Indian attack. “Following Pakistan’s strong response to India’s provocation, the world witnessed our strength, and this achievement was acknowledged by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye in Lachin,” he said. “Thanks to President Ilham Aliyev’s foresighted policy, Karabakh was liberated. We hope that one day Pakistan will also reclaim territories under Indian occupation.”
