Forest fire erupts in Azerbaijan’s Aghdara as emergency teams, helicopter deployed
A forest fire has broken out in Aghdara district, with emergency services rushing to contain the blaze as it continues to spread due to strong winds.
The fire began in the village of Ortakand before quickly extending into a nearby forested area located in mountainous terrain, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The combination of dry conditions and gusty winds has contributed to the rapid expansion of the flames.
Firefighting units from the Tartar and Naftalan districts were immediately dispatched to the scene to support local response efforts. Given the challenging topography and the scale of the fire, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan also deployed a helicopter to assist in aerial firefighting operations.
Efforts are ongoing to bring the fire under control, with emergency services urging the public to avoid the area and comply with any safety advisories issued.
