Fires contained in Khojavand district as multiple blazes sweep across Azerbaijan VIDEO
Fires that broke out in the mountainous terrain near the villages of Chorekli and Yemishjanli in Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district have been successfully contained by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, despite hot and windy weather conditions.
The difficult landscape, characterised by complex relief, posed challenges, but emergency forces prevented the flames from spreading to surrounding areas. Full extinguishing operations are still underway, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
At the same time, firefighting efforts continue unabated in open areas near Ortakend and Sugovushan villages in the Aghdara district, as well as in the city of Zangilan.
The State Fire Protection Service and helicopters from the Ministry’s Aviation Unit are actively involved in these operations, working to control and extinguish the fires.
The Ministry’s Press Service has confirmed that all available resources are being mobilised to address the situation.
This incident follows a series of wildfires that have affected multiple liberated regions of Azerbaijan in the last few weeks, particularly affecting the Aghdam and Aghdara districts. Fires were also previously reported in several villages across the Fuzuli and Khojavand districts, including Yukhari Yaghlivend, Jamilli, Divanallar, and the town of Hadrut.
