Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General hails Zangezur Corridor as sign of regional leadership
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has described the planned Zangezur Corridor as a key element of the country’s growing influence in the South Caucasus.
According to Aliyev, the corridor would provide a vital land link between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan exclave, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Speaking at an international conference in Baku dedicated to the late president Heydar Aliyev and his role in shaping Azerbaijan’s constitution, the prosecutor general argued the project would reshape the region’s transport map and strengthen economic and political integration.
Quoting President Ilham Aliyev, he added that the Zangezur Corridor was not only of strategic importance for Azerbaijan, but also for international trade and security.
“Its opening will be another demonstration of the practical strength of our sovereignty and Azerbaijan’s leading role in the region,” Aliyev said.
