Azerbaijani police arrest Iranian, local citizen in heroin trafficking attempt

Police in Azerbaijan’s Agjabadi District have thwarted an Iranian citizen from attempting to sell a large consignment of heroin to a citizen of Azerbaijan, both were arrested. 

In the village of Ashaghy Afshar, authorities detained Mohammad Mosazadeh, a citizen of Iran, and Rashad Alifov, an Azerbaijani national, in possession of 2 kilograms of heroin and the psychotropic substance methamphetamine, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Interior Ministry.

Investigations revealed that Mosazadeh had illegally smuggled the drugs into the country, concealing them inside a truck he was driving.

A criminal case has been opened, and the suspects have been remanded in custody by court order while the investigation continues.
