Eighth group of Ukrainian children arrives in Azerbaijan for rehabilitation
Efforts are ongoing in Azerbaijan to provide rehabilitation support to children affected by the war in Ukraine.
The domestic media reports that the latest group of 30 Ukrainian children has arrived in the country as part of a humanitarian program initiated by the State Agency for Medical and Social Examination and Rehabilitation under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, as per Caliber.Az. This marks the arrival of the eighth group under the initiative.
The children will take part in a 10-day rehabilitation program at the agency’s Children's Rehabilitation Centre in Gabala. The program includes comprehensive medical and socio-psychological care designed to aid in their recovery and social reintegration.
As part of the therapeutic activities, the children will participate in individual psychological counselling, group therapy sessions, as well as yoga and dance therapy. These methods aim to help stabilise their emotional well-being and support their adaptation to normal life.
In addition to treatment, cultural and recreational activities will be arranged. The children will go on excursions to leisure destinations in Gabala and Sheki and visit historical and architectural landmarks to learn about Azerbaijani heritage.
Since the program began, 222 Ukrainian children have already been brought to Azerbaijan in seven separate groups for similar care.
Speaking at Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport as the newest group arrived, Bahadur Rzayev, advisor to the head of the State Agency for Medical and Social Examination and Rehabilitation, reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to the cause.
"Throughout their stay, the children will receive high-quality rehabilitation services at our centre in Gabala. These include both medical treatment and socio-psychological support. Their leisure time will be thoughtfully organised, and they will have the opportunity to discover Azerbaijan's cultural and historical sites. Our team of experienced professionals will ensure that all aspects of their rehabilitation are carried out at the highest standard," Rzayev stated.
It is worth noting that today’s group of 30 children brings the total number of Ukrainian children covered by the program to 252. The initiative continues to be implemented under the leadership of the State Agency for Medical and Social Examination and Rehabilitation.
