Baku unveils visual tribute to ancient legacy of Western Azerbaijan PHOTO
A new photo album highlighting the ancient cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan has been officially unveiled in Baku. The presentation, held by the public association Innovative Initiatives with financial backing from the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations, is part of the project titled “Ancient Heritage of Western Azerbaijan – Monuments of Gochdash and Atdash.”
The event commenced with opening remarks from Ashraf Ahmadov, chairman of the Innovative Initiatives association, Caliber.Az reports.
In his address, Ahmadov detailed the comprehensive process of compiling the photo album and underscored its scientific, historical, and cultural relevance. He emphasized that the stone monuments of Gochdash and Atdash are emblematic of the values of the ancient Turkic world and serve as powerful symbols of national and cultural identity.
Renowned historian Rizvan Huseynov also addressed the event, describing the photo album as a critical instrument in the documentation and preservation of monuments that had stood for centuries in Western Azerbaijan but were either destroyed or distorted during periods of occupation. He stressed that the project plays a vital role in safeguarding historical memory and ensuring its transmission to future generations.
