Euronews: Baku reshaping urban mobility around people, not cars VIDEO
Euronews, a television channel with a multimillion audience, aired a report dedicated to the rapid changes in the urban mobility system of Azerbaijan’s capital.
According to Caliber.Az, the positive trends in the video report, titled “How Baku is reshaping urban mobility around people, not cars,” are evident at first glance. It highlights the extensive work carried out in recent years by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), and other institutions, which have completely reshaped the capital’s transport landscape.
The main idea of the report is the revolutionary transformation of Baku’s transportation system. It reflects the city’s readiness for a sustainable urban lifestyle—from people-centred streets to integrated mobility and electric buses.
The report emphasises that Baku is rethinking mobility as a key solution for creating a more comfortable and sustainable city: streets and public spaces across the capital are being redesigned with priority for pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport. Bus lanes and bicycle paths play an important role in this process.
Residents featured in the report say that these changes reduce travel time and costs. Increasingly, people are choosing bicycles and scooters for their daily commutes. Investments in micromobility, electric buses, and related infrastructure are transforming public transport and accelerating the transition to cleaner, more accessible urban mobility.
The report also presents AYNA’s plans: by 2030, Baku will have a fully “green” bus fleet through the annual purchase of new electric buses and compressed natural gas (CNG) buses.
This is particularly important in the context of preparations for the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Baku in May 2026.
