Kazakhstan extradites to Azerbaijan drug trafficking suspect
Kazakhstan has extradited to Azerbaijan Tahir Aydin oghlu Askerov, who was wanted internationally on charges of large-scale drug trafficking, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office has stated.
It said Askerov is charged under Articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan with smuggling, as well as the illegal acquisition, possession and transportation of drugs on a large scale by a group of people acting under a prior agreement for sale, Caliber.Az reports.
After fleeing the investigation, Askerov was placed under arrest and declared internationally wanted through the Interpol National Central Bureau in Baku.
As a result of operational and investigative measures, he was detained in Kazakhstan.
Following the completion of the extradition procedures, Askerov was brought to Azerbaijan by the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice and handed over to the investigative authorities.
