Chinese media group seeks to boost cultural ties with Azerbaijan

China Media Group (CMG) has provided Azerbaijani journalists with more than 10 cultural documentaries as part of efforts to develop audiovisual and cultural exchanges between the two countries, CMG Director of the Audiovisual Translation and Production Centre Wang Lu has said.

Speaking at an event marking the premiere of the documentary The Guardian of Heritage, she noted that China hopes these audiovisual programs will serve as a bridge for the mutual enrichment of civilizations and cultural exchange, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

According to Wang, Xi Jinping’s Cultural Attachment became the first CMG audiovisual production to be translated into Azerbaijani.

She made clear that the film tells the story of the preservation and development of China’s cultural heritage.

It also highlights Xi Jinping’s approach to protecting cultural heritage and maintaining historical continuity.

She added that the programs provided to Azerbaijani journalists include documentaries on the development of Chinese cities, artificial intelligence, traditional crafts, robot manufacturing, Chinese history, traditional Chinese medicine, tea culture and cuisine.

Wang emphasised the deep historical and cultural ties between China and Azerbaijan.

“There is an old proverb in Azerbaijan: ‘A branch that forgets its roots is doomed to wither.’ China has a similar wisdom: ‘A tree without roots withers, water without a source dries up.’ This confirms our shared deep commitment to preserving the roots of both great civilisations,” she remarked.

She further added that the film’s premiere was the result of joint efforts by the two sides and expressed hope for further deepening contacts and cooperation between the media organisations of the two countries.
