US ex-official urges West to deploy long-range guns in Ukraine

The West needs to implement "many initiatives" in Ukraine, including the deployment of longer-range guns in the country.

According to Gazeta.ru, former US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said this in a conversation with the US newspaper Politico.

"We need to accelerate the implementation of many initiatives... for example, to help Ukraine create the armed forces of the future with a high degree of deterrence, such as deploying longer-range weapons," she said, without specifying what kind of weapons she was referring to.

Nuland added that it was extremely important for Western countries to protect critical infrastructure and the energy sector.
