Western Azerbaijan Community denounces EU support for Armenia’s militarization agenda
The West Azerbaijan Community has strongly criticized the final document adopted at the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee meeting on February 25, accusing it of being racist and disrespectful to human rights, while also infringing on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
The community, in its statement, claimed the document was designed to provoke a new war in the region, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the Western Azerbaijan Community, the European Parliament's approval of the document, which supports Armenia’s actions, represents a glaring contradiction.
"Armenia, which occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijani territory, destroyed around 1,000 towns and villages, killed over 20,000 people, and forcibly disappeared 4,000 Azerbaijanis, is presented in this document as a beacon of ‘democracy’ and a ‘dove of peace.’ Meanwhile, the European Parliament, which has shown indifference to the fate of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) for over 30 years, is raising concerns about the rights of Armenians who voluntarily left the Karabakh region. This is a blatant act of racial discrimination," the community's commentary read.
The statement also criticized the document’s frequent references to the “European Peace Foundation” and the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA), accusing the European Union of continuing to arm Armenia. "The fact that this document was approved by the Armenian parliament, where the ruling party holds a majority, demonstrates that the Armenian government is insincere about peace talks and is using them as a cover for its ongoing militarization efforts," the commentary added.
The Western Azerbaijan Community has called on the international community to condemn both Armenia's and the EU’s actions, which violate human rights and undermine peace efforts in the region.
