A presentation of a new research book titled “Report on the Participation of the Azerbaijani Army in Peacekeeping Operations” is being held at the Centre for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Centre) in Baku.
The chairman of the board of the AIR Centre, Farid Shafiyev, noted that work on the publication took about a year, Caliber.Az reports.
“The book carries both academic and political significance. Azerbaijan makes a major contribution to strengthening security around the world. Azerbaijani peacekeepers have taken part in peacekeeping operations in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and are currently serving in South Sudan,” he said.
In turn, Major General Elchin Abdullayev, Head of the Department for International Relations at Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, stated that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces take pride in their successful peacekeeping missions.
“Our international partners highly value Azerbaijan’s contribution and the professionalism of our servicemen. These operations conducted across different continents have enriched our army with invaluable experience,” the major general said.
Member of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan, Gulshan Pashayeva, emphasised in her speech that Azerbaijan’s peacekeeping operations have made a significant contribution to global peace.
“Thanks to their high level of professionalism, Azerbaijani peacekeepers helped restore stability and ceasefires in the countries where they carried out their noble mission, creating conditions for sustainable peace. They successfully fulfil all assigned tasks,” she said.
