Azerbaijan, Bulgaria deepen military security cooperation PHOTO
Representatives of the defence ministries of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria held a working meeting on "Ensuring Internal Security in the Armed Forces" under the framework of the 2026 Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the two countries.
As part of the visit, the Bulgarian delegation met with Major General Azar Ibrahimov, Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry.
During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on measures being implemented to strengthen internal security within the Azerbaijan Army, ongoing initiatives in the field, and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation.
The delegation also visited the Ministry of Defence's Military Police Department, where they held talks with Major General Elgun Aliyev, Deputy Chief of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigations and Chief of the Military Police Department.
During the visit, the Bulgarian representatives received a comprehensive briefing on the history, structure, key responsibilities, and functions of the Military Police Department.
The discussions also focused on opportunities for military police personnel from both countries to participate in joint training activities in the coming years.
The sides further exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, with Azerbaijani officials responding to questions from the visiting delegation.
The meetings concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts and a group photograph, underscoring the continued development of defence cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.
