Bosnia and Herzegovina looks to Azerbaijan for mine-clearance expertise

02 September 2026 13:58

Bosnia and Herzegovina is seeking to learn from Azerbaijan’s experience in mine clearance, Enis Horozovic, chairman of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mine Action Centre, told journalists on the sidelines of the 4th International Mine Action Conference in Baku, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

According to Horozovic, around 80% of mine-contaminated areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been cleared.

“Therefore, we also have extensive experience. Bosnia and Herzegovina has done a great deal of work in this area in recent years, and we have established relations with Azerbaijan's mine action organizations,” he said.

Horozovic noted that Azerbaijani specialists have visited Bosnia and Herzegovina several times. He added that an Azerbaijani team had previously traveled to the country and filmed a documentary about its mine-clearance efforts.

“We are ready to share our experience with Azerbaijan. At the same time, we would also like to learn from Azerbaijan's experience in mine action, because we have seen that Azerbaijan has achieved truly remarkable results in this field,” Horozovic added.
