Azerbaijan seeks to expand parliamentary, diplomatic ties with Algeria, Ghana PHOTO

Azerbaijan is seeking to strengthen bilateral and inter-parliamentary relations with Algeria and Ghana, Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said during meetings with senior officials from both countries in Serbia.

Gafarova met with Khalida Boufedeche, Speaker of Algeria’s People’s National Assembly, congratulating her on her election and wishing her success in office, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The two speakers discussed prospects for developing relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria and highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation. They also praised the two countries’ collaboration within international organizations and stressed the importance of reciprocal parliamentary visits and meetings in strengthening bilateral ties.

Gafarova also briefed her Algerian counterpart on the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, established on Azerbaijan’s initiative, and its role in strengthening cooperation among parliaments of member states.

During a separate meeting with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, Gafarova discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-Ghana relations.

She expressed Azerbaijan’s interest in expanding ties with Ghana across various sectors and discussed international cooperation, including efforts to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The sides highlighted cooperation within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations, emphasizing the importance of mutual support on international platforms.

Mahama said Ghana attaches great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan, adding that stronger inter-parliamentary ties, reciprocal visits and cooperation across various sectors could contribute to closer bilateral relations.

The two sides also highlighted humanitarian cooperation, including the participation of Ghanaian students in Azerbaijani scholarship programs and Ghanaian diplomats’ attendance at training sessions and courses at ADA University.
