It was emphasised during the meeting that the ministry plans to provide broadband communications and access to public digital services in 80 per cent of the country's settlements by 2026.

“It is planned to create a satellite control centre and a station in Armenia in 2023, from which it will be possible to control the satellite and receive satellite images. The specialists are being trained,” the ministry said.

Pashinyan emphasised the importance of consistent steps in this sphere and stressed that the development of this sphere will remain a priority for the government.

The prime minister instructed to present a road map for resolving the issues raised during the meeting soon.

The satellite called Urdaneta was manufactured for Armenia by the Spanish Satlantis company. It was launched in late May 2022, after which it was renamed ArmSAT-1.
