Tbilisi, Beijing set sights on expanded free trade deal by year-end
Georgia and China are working towards expanding their Free Trade Agreement, with negotiations expected to conclude by the end of 2025, according to Georgia’s Ministry of Economy.
The announcement was made during the second meeting of the Joint Commission on the Free Trade Agreement, held in Beijing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The Georgian delegation was led by Deputy Economy Minister Genadi Arveladze, who co-chaired the session alongside China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, Yan Tong.
The Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China entered into force in 2018 and has since aimed to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.
“Georgia is committed to deepening cooperation with China across various sectors, especially in trade. The Free Trade Agreement has already played a pivotal role in boosting commerce, strengthening business links and creating new opportunities,” said Arveladze.
As part of the meeting, both sides also held initial consultations on updating and expanding the current agreement.
