US senior advisor arrives in Yerevan

    REGION  01 December 2022 - 14:31

The US Senior Advisor for South Caucasus Negotiations, Philip Reeker, arrived in Yerevan.

Caliber.Az reports citing the press service of the US Embassy in Armenia that during his visit on December 1-4, Reeker is expected to meet with government officials and civil society representatives, as well as to discuss Washington's support for the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace talks.

The US official started his regional tour with Baku. At the end of his meetings, Reeker recorded a video address, in which he stressed that the peace process is not simple and the conflict has caused much hardship and suffering to all sides for many years. At the same time, he expressed his strong belief that peace could be achieved.

The US senior advisor also underlined that the US supports the direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan urging it to continue next year.

Reeker then headed to Georgia. During his meeting with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the sides touched upon security issues in the region and the South Caucasus and also noted Georgia's mediating role in the Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue.
