08 December 2022 09:55
The Armenian delegation led by Defence Minister Suren Papikyan has left for Russia for a working visit.
Details and schedules of the Armenian minister's meetings are not reported, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
On November 24, the Armenian and Russian defence ministers, Suren Papikyan and Sergei Shoigu held a brief conversation after a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Defense Ministers and secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO countries in Yerevan.
Papikyan stated on social networking platforms that he and Shoigu had exchanged views on a number of issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of defence and on topics of mutual interest.
Earlier, Papikyan said that the republic is considering the possibility of acquiring new quality weapons and is close to substantive results.
"Over the past year, we can say that we are already considering new opportunities that have been provided to us. We knocked on a lot of doors. And this is a natural process," he said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia, according to Interfax Azerbaijan.
According to the minister, "we are talking about weapons and weapons of new quality".
"A lot of work is underway. Certain outcomes are already visible, and they are close to being substantive," Papikyan added.
