Drone attacks on Moscow damage several buildings, says capital’s mayor

    REGION  30 May 2023 - 09:27

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has said that several drone attacks were carried out on the capital on the morning of May 30, with some buildings "suffering minor damage".

"All the city's emergency services are on the scene. They are investigating the circumstances of what happened. At the moment, no one has been seriously injured. I ask you to trust only official sources and not to spread unverified information," RIA Novosti quotes the Moscow mayor as saying.

Sobyanin also said that residents of several entrances in two buildings affected by drone strikes had been evacuated for safety reasons while emergency services were working.
However, the Moscow mayor didn’t disclose where exactly the drones damaged the houses.

One drone reportedly hit the upper floors of a residential building on 98 Profsoyuznaya Street. As a result, the building's facade and glazing were destroyed.
A second drone hit a 24-storey apartment building on Atlasova Street in New Moscow.

Andrei Vorobyov, governor of Moscow Region, said that several drones had been shot down as they approached Moscow. He noted that in the morning residents of some districts of the region could hear the sounds of explosions, it was an air defence system working.

Local Telegram channel Mash writes that a drone carrying three explosive devices flew into a flat on the 14th floor of a high-rise building on Leninsky Prospekt. It did not detonate, the channel claims. The Shot telegram channel also wrote about it. There is no official confirmation of this information.

According to the Baza Telegram channel, more than ten drones were shot down in Moscow Oblast on the morning of May 30, most of them in the Istra, Krasnogorsk and Odintsovo districts.
