We have difficulties in process of building trust Armenian PM on trusting Azerbaijani president

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told in an interview with France 24 TV channel whether he trusts Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"I believe that the very history of our relations is already a basis for deep distrust. And there is no point in asking the leader of Azerbaijan and me whether we trust each other or not? Obviously not," Pashinyan said, Caliber.Az reports.

"But that is not the problem, the problem is this: are we going to build trust in small steps? It is in the process of building trust that we have difficulties," Pashinyan noted.

To the question, "that is, when Aliyev says he is ready for peace, he is actually preparing for war," the Armenian prime minister gave a positive answer.

"Yes, there is such an impression, but to be objective, I assume that if you ask them, they will also say that they don't trust us, but this is not about that. It's about something else: are we ready to mutually build trust step by step, small steps, maybe big steps, so that we mutually trust each other's word? I say again, during the diplomatic contacts the leader of Azerbaijan says that they have no intention to attack. And the problem is, I repeat again: public discourse, further practical work and developments taking place 'on the ground' is what gives many analysts a basis for such conclusions. Sometimes it is very difficult to object and give counterarguments why it is not the case," the Armenian Prime Minister said.
