Azerbaijan, Algeria discuss expansion of cooperation between SOCAR, Sonatrach

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has met with Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Mohamed Arkab.

The meeting was held as part of Shahbazov’s participation in the seventh Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry told Report.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the constructive development of cooperation within GECF, OPEC+ and the bilateral format.

The ministers also touched upon the current energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Algeria.

An agreement was reached to accelerate the process of establishing a joint working group in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on oil and gas cooperation signed between Azerbaijan and Algeria in 2022.

The ministers discussed the issues related to expanding cooperation between the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation and the establishment of an intergovernmental commission.

The Azerbaijani minister invited his Algerian colleague to visit Azerbaijan.
