“Green Zone” at COP29 set to boost private sector development in Azerbaijan
The "Green Zone" at the COP29 conference in Azerbaijan will play a key role in keeping the event relevant by offering well-organized activities and programming.
It will highlight the fusion of technological innovation and global partnerships in its content, Caliber.Az informs via local media.
Participants from all over the world will gather in Baku for the most important climate event of the year, and during this time, the "Green Zone" will serve as a platform where stakeholders can interact and exchange ideas, experience, and knowledge to give further momentum to climate action.
In addition to showcasing products and services from leading global organisations, the "Green Zone" will also host various presentations, seminars, and briefings, as well as a number of targeted musical and cultural events.
The "Green Zone", consisting of pavilions and exhibition stands, covering a total area of 36,000 m², will be located a few hundred metres from the "Blue Zone", where the official conference sessions will take place during the event.
The reach of the "Green Zone" will expand even further thanks to new virtual participation channels. These not only reduce the need for carbon-intensive travel but also bring the COP event directly to mobile phones, computers, TVs, and the homes of a global audience engaged in the project.
Key features of the "Green Zone" this year:
- Leading representatives from the private sector, government organisations, international governmental organisations, and NGOs, representing a wide range of business verticals from both Azerbaijan and various countries around the world, will present and showcase the latest products, solutions, and progress on climate-related projects.
- The innovation zone, known as the "extreme meetings" area, is designed to strengthen connections between young people and other participants through renowned speakers, special workshop and exhibition zones, creative studios, and networking areas.
- For the first time, the unique broadcast "Daily Show" will air: a one-of-a-kind programme that will be broadcast from the COP29 centre, featuring a diverse range of high-profile guests and dynamic content. This show will be broadcast globally through several news agencies, extending the reach of the conference far beyond Baku.
- Cutting-edge technologies and online broadcasting services will ensure effective participation and broader engagement, allowing organisations to interact with local, regional, and international audiences far beyond the event itself.
- Professional broadcasting management services and audiovisual content creation will ensure the synchronous transmission of events happening at the venue.
In this dynamic hub, individual conference and meeting rooms can now be booked via the COP29 online portal. Organisations can reserve conference rooms designed for both medium-sized meetings and large-scale events, which follow a theatre format and are equipped with high-definition audiovisual equipment, ensuring a more comfortable visual connection and enhanced physical presence.
There are also corporate (B2B) conference rooms available for private meetings of groups of four, eight, or twelve people. Given the anticipated high demand, priority for conference room allocation will be given to COP29 partners and exhibitors.
Members of the public will be invited to participate in the "Green Zone", where they can hear from leading climate figures and partners, and contribute to discussions on climate issues by sharing their own perspectives.
Free tickets will be available from the beginning of November.
Commenting on the creation of the "Green Zone", Chair of the Azerbaijan COP29 Operating Company and Chief Operating Officer Narmin Jarchalova said that COP29, recognised as the world’s most important climate conference, will serve as a primary platform for discussing international climate policy, advancing climate action, and fostering global cooperation to achieve a sustainable future.
"Our plans for the 'Green Zone' provide organisations from both the private and public sectors with various ideal opportunities to network and exchange ideas, experiences, and knowledge, thereby giving further impetus to climate action," she noted.
