Azerbaijan, Georgia discuss expansion of gas supplies, energy cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijan and Georgia have held talks aimed at expanding their cooperation in the natural gas sector, reinforcing their strategic energy partnership, and advancing joint projects for regional energy security.
Energy Minister of Azerbaijan, Parviz Shahbazov, shared on his social media that during a meeting with Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, they discussed key topics including gas supplies, the green energy corridor, electricity export and transit, and future opportunities for cooperation, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Shahbazov, “In January-May this year, 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas were supplied to Georgia. Our joint initiatives in the energy sector make a significant contribution to regional energy security..”
Officials highlighted the strong and brotherly relations between the two countries across multiple sectors, emphasizing the tangible results of their collaboration in the oil and gas industry.
The meeting also focused on ongoing and planned projects to deliver energy to European markets through an underwater cable across the Black Sea and overland transmission lines. These initiatives form part of the green energy corridor and interconnector, with the “Caspian–Black Sea–Europe” corridor project described as a strategic milestone for both nations, symbolizing a deepening of their partnership.
Additionally, Azerbaijan has been invited to participate in the upcoming Silk Road Forum scheduled to take place in Georgia on October 23, 2025, further underscoring the countries’ commitment to regional cooperation and economic integration.
