Construction of a 330-kilovolt power transmission line linking Jabrayil and Aghband in Azerbaijan is nearing completion, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has said at the 5th Azerbaijan-Türkiye Energy Forum in Baku on September 11.
According to Shahbazov, the line, with a transmission capacity of 1,000 megawatts, is part of plans to connect Nakhchivan to Azerbaijan’s unified electricity system through the Zangezur energy corridor, Caliber.Az reports via local media
He said the necessary energy infrastructure had been established in Jabrayil, adding that the next stage would involve creating an electricity connection with Nakhchivan and Türkiye through the Zangezur corridor.
Shahbazov said linking the electricity transmission networks of Azerbaijan and Türkiye via Nakhchivan had particular strategic importance.
At the initial stage, Azerbaijan plans to export 1 GW of electricity from Nakhchivan to Türkiye, he added.
