Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar tanker has transported more than 446,000 tonnes of crude oil and petroleum products since entering service five years ago, according to Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO).

The tanker, operated by ASCO, part of AZCON Holding, was built at Baku Shipyard on ASCO’s order and commissioned on September 10, 2021, in a ceremony attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Since then, the vessel has completed 72 voyages to various ports, carrying a total of 446,235 tonnes of crude oil and petroleum products.

The 141-metre-long, new-generation tanker is 16.9 metres wide and has a moulded depth of 6 metres. It is operated by a crew of 15 and can reach a speed of 10 knots.

The vessel has six cargo tanks with a combined capacity of 9,212 cubic metres. Its deadweight is 7,875 tonnes in sea-going conditions and 5,447 tonnes in river-going conditions.

The Kalbajar has operated in international waters under the Azerbaijani flag since it was commissioned.

Baku Shipyard has built and delivered a total of four tankers for ASCO, while three more tankers are currently under construction.
