Azerbaijan, IFC explore "green construction" initiatives in urban planning PHOTO

Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev has held a meeting with a delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) headed by regional director Ines Rocha.

Guliyev welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of cooperation with the IFC, noting the need for joint steps to study and apply the world's best practices in the field of “green” construction in Azerbaijan, the press service of the state committee told Caliber.Az.

An important discussion topic was also the possibility of organising certification work that would contribute to ‘greening’ construction projects and reducing carbon emissions.

The IFC Regional Director for Europe expressed her readiness to support these initiatives, praising Azerbaijan's efforts in promoting green building materials and low-carbon buildings.

She also noted the desire to share best practices from IFC-supported “green building” projects in 96 countries worldwide.
