Turkish media spotlights "Sustainable Future Platform" as key initiative at COP29
The "Sustainable Future Platform" will be the sole pavilion representing a public civil initiative at the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan.
Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet highlights the forthcoming inauguration of this pavilion at the Green Zone of the COP29 venue in Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Ahead of the November conference, the organizers of the "Sustainable Future Platform," led by Agriconnect Türkiye, met with notable companies, NGOs, and public figures committed to environmental protection.
Agriconnect Türkiye representative Havva Olcum announced that the pavilion will host numerous round tables and events on environmental issues from November 11 to 24. "Over the 11 days of COP29, we will organize discussions across 11 different sectors, including water, energy, technology, fashion, tourism, transport, and healthcare. Our aim is to attract widespread public attention to environmental concerns. We plan to bring together NGOs, industry leaders, scientists, and environmental activists," Olcum said, expressing gratitude to Trendyol for supporting the pavilion's creation.
Olcum emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing environmental issues. "For the past three years, we have been actively engaging through the Sustainable Future Platform, fostering dialogue and connections in the environmental field," she noted, mentioning the establishment of the Sustainable Future Advisory Council, which includes prominent figures from Turkey and Azerbaijan. "This Council will prepare public reports on these discussions," she assured.
The Cumhuriyet article also referenced comments from Advisory Board members Asla Pasinli and Professor Levent Kurnaz, as well as Nigar Alasgarova, head of the Association of Clubs and Small and Medium Enterprises of Azerbaijan (KOBSKA), on the significance of the upcoming COP29 conference in Azerbaijan.
