Central security warning triggers nationwide airport alert in India
All airports across India have been placed on the highest security alert following intelligence inputs about a possible threat from terrorist groups or disruptive elements. The alert is in effect from September 22 to October 2, 2025.
This warning was issued by a central security agency, after which the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) circulated a detailed advisory on August 4, Caliber.Az reports citing Indian media outlets.
It instructed all aviation-related establishments—airports, airstrips, helipads, and flying schools—to step up security with immediate effect.
"Based on recent intelligence from a central agency about a likely threat posed by terrorist groups or anti-social elements during September 22-October 2, 2025, all stakeholders are hereby directed to tighten security at all civil aviation facilities, including airports, airstrips, airfields, air force stations, and helipads," the BCAS advisory stated.
The strengthened security protocols cover both domestic and international flights.
Security personnel are now required to stay on duty round the clock, with increased patrolling at strategic points such as terminals, parking areas, entry gates, perimeters, and other critical locations.
The BCAS has also mandated strict identity verification for all employees, contractors, and visitors. It further directed close coordination among the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Intelligence Bureau (IB), State police, and other local law enforcement and security agencies.
