Baku International Sea Port sees record container growth in early 2025 PHOTO
The Baku International Sea Port, operated by Azerbaijan Railways (ADY), has achieved a record surge in container turnover during the first seven months of 2025.
Between January and July, the port handled a total of 60,429 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) containers, representing a remarkable 54.2% increase compared to the 39,184 TEU recorded in the same period last year, Caliber.Az reports via ADY.
As the region’s most advanced logistics hub, the Port of Baku continues to demonstrate strong growth, with projections indicating that annual container volumes could reach approximately 100,000 TEU by the end of 2025.
Following its strategic integration with Azerbaijan Railways, the port has significantly enhanced the country’s transit capabilities.
This collaboration has enabled a rapid expansion of the port’s annual handling capacity from 100,000 TEU to 150,000 TEU—achieved without requiring additional investment.
