Azerbaijan receives official invitation to join UN world tourism summit in Riyadh

Azerbaijan has been officially invited to take part in the 26th Session of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly, scheduled to be held on 7-11 November in Riyadh.

Saudi Ambassador to Baku, Essam bin Saleh Al-Jutaili extended the invitation to Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, Fuad Naghiyev, on behalf of Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism and the Secretary-General of the UNWTO, Caliber.Az reports.

During the meeting, Naghiyev outlined Azerbaijan’s growing tourism potential, highlighting key destinations and recent initiatives aimed at developing the country's tourism infrastructure and services.

"The sides emphasised the importance of tourism in strengthening bilateral relations. There was also an exchange of views on opportunities for cooperation in the tourism sector," the State Tourism Agency noted in an official statement.

The 26th session of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly, to be held in Riyadh will centre on the theme “AI-Powered Tourism: Redefining the Future”, reflecting the rising influence of artificial intelligence in reshaping the global tourism industry.

As part of the Assembly, a dedicated thematic session will feature a curated series of presentations, panel discussions, and expert dialogues spotlighting the latest innovations in AI-driven tourism solutions. These sessions will explore transformative strategies and technological advancements that are redefining operational models, enhancing visitor experiences, and enabling smarter, more sustainable tourism practices.
