Minister: Zangezur corridor to channel energy and logistics flows to Türkiye

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that in the near future, all energy and logistics flows passing through the Zangezur corridor will be directed toward Türkiye.

Speaking to journalists in the Turkish city of Kilis, Bayraktar emphasised Türkiye’s growing role as a regional energy hub and underscored the strategic importance of the Zangezur corridor for energy and transportation integration across the region, Caliber.Az reports.

"Currently, electricity from Azerbaijan flows to Türkiye via Georgia," the minister noted, highlighting the existing infrastructure for power exchange between the two countries.

“At the same time, energy resources and logistics flows from Central Asia will be delivered through Azerbaijan to Türkiye and then to Europe,” Bayraktar stated, outlining a broader vision for regional connectivity that positions Türkiye as a key transit country.

He also emphasised that all projects related to the export of Azerbaijan’s natural resources — namely oil, gas, and electricity — to Türkiye are being developed simultaneously and in close coordination.

"Significant progress has been made in this regard. Among the main projects implemented so far, I can mention the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, and the Nakhchivan-Türkiye electricity interconnector," Bayraktar added.

The minister’s remarks came during a high-level event in Kilis attended by delegations from several regional countries, reflecting intensifying cooperation on energy and infrastructure.
