Official: SOCAR to enter Uzbekistan’s retail fuel market

Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company SOCAR is set to enter Uzbekistan’s retail fuel market, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the fourth Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Interregional Forum in Tashkent.

Jabbarov said SOCAR would subsequently invest in developing a network of filling stations in Uzbekistan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

SOCAR is already involved in the development of Uzbekistan’s Ustyurt field as an investor, working in partnership with Uzbekneftegaz and BP.

Jabbarov said the company’s activities would contribute to strengthening Uzbekistan’s energy security.

He also said Azerbaijan’s state-owned gold mining company AzerGold would cooperate with Uzbek partners on geological exploration and mining projects across Uzbekistan.
