A show with a predictable finale
    Armenia must uphold the agreements!

    ANALYTICS  22 April 2024 - 15:27

The report that Armenian special forces were sent to unblock the road near the village of Kirants (Kheyrimli) in the Tovuzgala region is not surprising. Neither is the assertion by Armenian MP Garnik Danielyan that the special forces are ready to use force against the protesters. Despite this threat, Danielyan noted, the villagers continue to stay in their places and block the motorway. The events could not have developed otherwise.

Let me remind you that a bunch of Armenian citizens blocked the Kirants-Voskepar road (Kheyrimli-Ashaghi Askipara). A certain political scientist Suren Petrosyan told Armenian journalists that this road would remain closed. He argued that the biggest lie is the claim that the villagers have accepted it.

Let me remind you that a bunch of Armenian citizens blocked the Kirants-Voskepar road (Kheyrimli-Ashaghi Askipara). A certain political scientist Suren Petrosyan told Armenian journalists that this road would remain closed. He claimed that the biggest lie is the claim that the villagers have reconciled. Really? And what, I beg your pardon, have the residents of Kirants (Kheyrimli) not come to terms with? Is it linked to the fact that Azerbaijani villages should be returned to Azerbaijan? And who else in Armenia disagrees with this? Dashnaks, Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) leadership, members of the Karabakh clan thrown on the political rubbish bin - we have known these people for a long time, and their opinions do not influence anything. Who else? "According to the information I received, there are few locals among the protesters, and there are reports that in fact there are travelling groups from Yerevan and other regions in Tavush with a certain task to ensure a certain density of protesters during the shooting," lawyer Artashes Khalatyan claimed in a conversation with Civic.am.

Blogger Gevorg Arstamyan, whose opinion was quoted by the Propashinyan's "Baghramyan, 26" Telegram channel, calls those who make various statements against the delimitation pro-Russian forces that defend Russian interests rather than Armenian ones. The channel itself also published a note according to which the blocking of the Kirants-Voskepar road (Kheyrimli-Ashaghi Askipara) is "nothing but a provocation, instigated from outside and by local mancourts, the purpose of which is to disrupt Armenia's normal transport communication along with the problems arising from it". It is further stated that "this style is dictated from outside and the aim is solely to provoke instability in Armenia".

We are not going to refute or confirm this information. We are only stating that this whole circus is being demonstrated, however it may be, by Armenian citizens. In other words, this is purely an intra-Armenian squabble, which, by the way, has already led to a fight. According to Radar Armenia, there was a dispute between the group that blocked the road and Garnik Danielyan, a member of parliament from the Armenia bloc, as a result of which the latter was seriously injured. Garnik in this dish, reasoning ironically, acted as a garnish to the action, at which one can only laugh. How could it be otherwise, if the forms of protest against the inevitable were chosen to be simply anecdotal!

Garnik in this dish, reasoning ironically, acted as a garnish to the action, at which one can only laugh. How could it be otherwise, if the forms of protest against the inevitable were chosen to be simply anecdotal!

According to Armenian media, a group of citizens held a protest near Freedom Square on Saturday, blocking Tumanyan Street. "They are surrendering the land, signal," one of the protesters told drivers of passing cars.

Oh, how! According to this protester, by signalling from the car, it turned out that it was possible to stop the process, which was launched according to the protocol signed by the two deputy prime ministers - Shahin Mustafayev and Mher Grigoryan.

It reminds that at the initial stage of the delimitation process, the sides previously agreed on individual sections of the border line stretching directly between the settlements of Baghanis (Armenia) - Baghanis Ayrum (Azerbaijan), Voskepar (Armenia) - Ashagi Askipara (Azerbaijan), Kirants (Armenia) - Kheyrimli (Azerbaijan) and Berkaber (Armenia) - Gizilhajili (Azerbaijan) to bring them into line with the legally valid inter-republican border that existed within the Soviet Union at the moment of its collapse. And they wanted to nullify all this, to stop it by demanding that drivers honk their horns in protest in Yerevan and blocking the road? Well, we can now expect a gathering of Armenian nudists, who will also try to show themselves from all sides in a futile attempt to prevent the implementation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani protocol, which has already been supported by diplomats, officials and politicians from all over the world.

They are all in different words and expressions, but emphasise the same idea: this positive development achieved as a result of direct negotiations is an important step towards signing a final peace agreement. Official Baku agrees with this assessment of events. It is not for nothing that the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called what happened a "long-awaited historical event". And who is now trying to prevent all this, approved in the world? Correctly, the Armenian Church and Pashinyan's political opponents from the ranks of revanchists.

However, Baku is not very interested in who exactly is muddying the waters in Armenia. After all, there is a legitimate authority in this country, which is obliged to fulfil the commitments it has undertaken and the official documents it has signed. I am sure it will happen in the end. And sending special forces to the place of provocation confirms this assumption. It simply could not be otherwise.

In general, we remember how previous Armenian provocations and loud promises to "die but not surrender Karabakh" ended. The authors of these statements quietly left the territories liberated by Azerbaijan. Now they live in Armenia and try not to remind of themselves. The fate of the participants of the current sabotage will be exactly the same. We can only wait for news confirming the dispersal of the group of provocateurs by Armenian special forces.
