Trump talks bombs... No translator needed Breaking coverage

22 June 2025 08:47

The United States carried out a series of strikes on key sites of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. President Donald Trump officially confirmed the military operation, stating that the U.S. Air Force successfully attacked three targets — an underground facility in Fordow, as well as complexes in Natanz and Isfahan. President Trump was the first to announce the operation, describing it as “very successful.”

In his statement, he noted that a full bomb load was dropped on the main site in Fordow, and all involved aircraft left Iranian airspace safely and are returning to their bases. Later, he briefly confirmed the extent of the damage by reposting a message saying: “Fordow is gone.” This emphasized the seriousness of the strike on the underground facility, which for many years had been considered one of the most secure elements of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

The President of the United States also addressed the nation. In his opening remarks, he called the events a historic moment not only for the U.S. and Israel but for the entire world. During the address, Trump confirmed the key facts of the operation, describing the strikes as an outstanding military success. He stated that the facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan were completely destroyed. According to the American president, the purpose of the operation was to eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian regime, which he called "the world's number one state sponsor of terror." The speech included a call for Iran to choose peace, while also emphasizing the United States’ readiness to act decisively in the future. Trump also expressed gratitude to American service members and specifically highlighted: "no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight."

Details of the operation emerged from a statement by Fox News host Sean Hannity, who reported that he had "just" spoken with President Trump. According to Hannity, six bunker-buster bombs—three times more than previously assumed—were used in the strike on Fordow. Meanwhile, 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched from U.S. submarines located approximately 400 nautical miles from the targets at Natanz and Isfahan. Thus, the operation was a pre-planned combined strike involving both aerial and naval platforms equipped with precision weapons.

The Iranian side, through state media outlets Mehr News Agency and IRIB television, confirmed the attacks. They acknowledged that strikes did indeed hit the facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. However, the IRIB news director stated that personnel had been evacuated from these sites “long before the strikes.” Official information regarding the scale of the damage and possible consequences has not yet been released.

Additional context for the operation is provided by Israel’s position. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video statement thanking President Trump for the decision to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities. He called the move historic and expressed confidence that the United States “has done what no other country on earth could do.” According to Netanyahu, Israel had already carried out significant work as part of Operation “Rising Lion,” but it was the U.S. that achieved the decisive result. He concluded his statement with a phrase previously voiced by both himself and Trump: “First comes strength, then comes peace.”

Thus, a clear and unequivocal picture emerges: the United States delivered not a symbolic, but a technically precise and devastating strike on the key elements of Iran’s nuclear program, long considered its core. Donald Trump’s statements, made both before and after the operation, indicate that this was a deliberate act demonstrating military superiority, backed by a readiness to take further action if necessary.

The choice of targets and the scale of the strike—six bunker-buster bombs on Fordow and 30 cruise missiles fired at Natanz and Isfahan—leave no doubt that this was a carefully planned and deliberate operation. It was a premeditated, highly coordinated strike using precision-guided munitions launched from both air and sea platforms. The confirmation of the attack by Iranian state media, along with reports of personnel being evacuated well in advance, show that Tehran was fully aware of its facilities’ vulnerabilities and likely anticipated a military response.

Trump’s remarks, including statements like “Fordow is gone” and “now is the time for peace,” appear aimed at framing the narrative for the coming international dialogue. Despite the operation’s severity and the blunt language, there is a clear intent in Trump’s message to emphasise the impact of the strike while signalling a willingness to transition to a political phase. However, a stark warning remains: if Iran does not make the “right choice,” even more devastating actions will follow. This suggests that the operation was not a one-off show of force, but rather a deliberate signal—one that could be followed either by diplomatic engagement or a further escalation of military pressure.

This sets a precedent in global perception: one of the world’s most secretive and heavily fortified nuclear programs has been dismantled not through negotiation, but through targeted military force. At a time when political and diplomatic avenues have been exhausted, Washington has chosen to revert to military leverage as a tool of strategic influence. The current situation marks a shift to a new phase—one that is less predictable and more severe. The question now is not only how Iran will respond, but also how sustainable the U.S. strategy of force demonstrated in this operation will prove to be.
