16 April 2024 10:14

In an interview with the editor-in-chief of the security policy magazine "Loyal," Armenian Ambassador to Germany, Viktor Yengibaryan, expressed his perspectives on the current state of affairs in the region.

The discussion highlighted Armenia's aspirations for peace, cooperation, and strategic partnerships, with notable commentary on Russia's role and the European Union's involvement Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Yengibaryan emphasized the urgency of achieving peace and cooperation, suggesting that Armenia and Azerbaijan are on the brink of a significant agreement. However, he underscored the necessity of political will from Azerbaijan to finalize the process. The ambassador stressed that post-peace border openings would foster economic ties and benefit all involved parties, including Azerbaijan.

A pivotal part of the conversation centred around Armenia's efforts to diversify its arms markets and fortify its military capabilities. Notably, Yengibaryan raised concerns about Russia's recent military cooperation with Azerbaijan, hinting at uncertainties regarding Russia's commitment to collective security in the region.

Highlighting the European Union's influence, the ambassador lauded the positive impact of the EU's civilian mission in the area. He commended Germany, the largest EU state, for actively supporting Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Moreover, he underscored the significance of Germany's diplomatic engagement with Türkiye, emphasizing its potential to enhance regional stability.
