Armenian, EU top diplomats discuss Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement process with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in a phone call on May 25.
The conversation focused on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, with Mirzoyan emphasizing the commitment of both countries' leaders to base the process on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s press service.
Mirzoyan updated Borrell on the progress of negotiations regarding the draft peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku. He expressed optimism about reaching a final agreement by consolidating the already reached agreements into the draft treaty.
In the context of Armenia's relations with the EU, Mirzoyan highlighted the importance of finalizing a decision to start a dialogue on visa liberalization. The discussion also covered current cooperation programs, including EU-supported projects to assist Armenia under the current conditions.
