Armenian MP: We transferring Russia-West conflict to Armenia

Armen Rustamyan, an MP of Kocharyan's Armenia faction, has said that the government is transferring the conflict between Russia and the West to Armenia.

"This is the third time that Armenia's top officials are not attending a CSTO meeting. This is another accepted way to show a demarche in diplomacy, and anything else is difficult to apply," he said during an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

"I would understand if the policy of Armenian authorities complemented each other to increase our security, if, for example, it doesn't work with one, we can replace it with another. However, here it's not so much about complementarity as it is about a change of camp. And I have the right to say that this can have very serious consequences for Armenia because we are essentially changing camp at a time when there is an obvious conflict between Russia and the West.

If we look in order, we will see that this is already a consistent policy, everybody sees the regularity that we are transferring the conflict between Russia and the West to our territory and this will have devastating consequences for Armenia.  In this sense, of course, it would be good to learn from our adversaries. When Azerbaijan manages to use this conflict for its own purposes, and we bring this conflict upon ourselves. And it is very difficult to imagine what kind of situation we will find ourselves in," Rustamyan said.
