Azerbaijan, Asian Development Bank forge stronger ties to advance transport sector

21 February 2025 12:22

Shahin Babayev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, has met with a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Enrico Pinali, Regional Head for Private Sector Development to discuss bilateral cooperation.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan said that the meeting focused on the advancement of the country’s transport sector and the ongoing projects facilitated by ADB, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The sides engaged in a constructive dialogue on the progress of current initiatives and explored further opportunities for collaboration.

Additionally, the discussions highlighted the future prospects for expanding the partnership between ADB and the Azerbaijani government in the transportation domain.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) stands as one of Azerbaijan's principal sources of official development assistance. Through its operations outlined in the Country Partnership Strategy for 2019–2023, ADB has played a pivotal role in fostering private sector development, enhancing public sector efficiency, upgrading infrastructure, and bolstering human capital. This strategy has been meticulously aligned with Azerbaijan’s strategic roadmaps for the national economy and key economic sectors. Looking ahead, a new Country Partnership Strategy for 2024–2028 is expected to be rolled out by 2025, further strengthening the partnership and advancing the nation's development goals.
