Azerbaijan emerges as regional leader in green energy Minister of Economy says
In a significant development for the South Caucasus region, Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a pioneer in green energy initiatives, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov announced at the Baku ID Innovation Festival.
Speaking to local media, Jabbarov highlighted Azerbaijan's strides in renewable energy, especially in recently liberated territories, Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
"Azerbaijan is currently becoming the region's leader in the field of green energy. This is due to the establishment of activities in a new context in our territories liberated from occupation," Minister Jabbarov stated, underscoring the transformative impact of reclaiming occupied areas.
He emphasized the potential for Azerbaijan to serve as a hub for startups and investment, showcasing attractive opportunities in renewable energy projects. "We are able to present very attractive investment projects," Jabbarov affirmed, pointing to ongoing initiatives aimed at accelerating the country's transition to sustainable energy sources.
The minister also underscored Azerbaijan's pivotal role in regional cooperation, noting recent positive developments such as participation in the COP29 process. "Azerbaijan is a natural bridge between the South Caucasus and Central Asia," he added, highlighting the country's strategic geographic position.
Against the backdrop of these advancements, Azerbaijan is actively implementing major green energy projects in liberated territories and addressing environmental challenges in the Caspian Sea.
