Azerbaijan holds significant wind energy potential, says Aramco Ventures CEO

Azerbaijan possesses considerable wind energy potential and broad prospects for the development of the sector, Mahdi Aladel, CEO of Aramco Ventures, said at the 1st Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2025) in Baku.

He noted that renewable energy projects are already underway in the country, but their capacities remain insufficient during periods of low wind or sunlight, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

“Energy storage systems are therefore crucial. In addition, technologies for direct carbon capture and reducing carbon footprints—allowing hydrocarbon extraction to continue—are areas in which we are investing and that could be applied in Azerbaijan,” Aladel explained.

“The progress we see at Aramco has been made possible thanks to the development and implementation of advanced technologies,” he added.
