Azerbaijan, Iran discuss regional peace, economic development PHOTO
Azerbaijani and Iranian MPs have discussed joint efforts to develop transport corridors and strengthen regional peace and economic progress.
The discussion took place between Azerbaijani senior MP Ziyafat Asgarov and members of visiting Iranian parliamentary delegation in Baku on June 8, APA reports, quoting the Azerbaijani parliament's press and public relations department.
The head of the Azerbaijani parliament's defence, security, and the anti-corruption committee, Asgarov, and members of the Iranian parliament's national security and foreign policy commission focused on the importance of joint efforts to develop transport corridors, strengthen regional peace and economic development, issues of expanding bilateral cooperation in many areas, including inter-parliamentary cooperation, demining of liberated territories.
The Azerbaijani MP expressed condolences to the Iranian guests over the human casualties as a result of the June 8 train accident in their country and wished the wounded recovery.
The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani MPs Aydin Mirzazade, Arzu Nagiyev and Iranian MPs Yagub Rezazade, Seyid Ahmad Avai, and Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi and other officials.
