Azerbaijan, Belgium conduct political consultations in Baku
The foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Belgium have held a round of political consultations in Baku.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Belgian delegation was headed by Jeroen Cooreman, Director-General for Bilateral Affairs, Caliber.Az reports.
During the discussions, the two sides examined their political ties, highlighting the need to enhance trade relations and explore cooperation opportunities in energy, transport, and high technologies. They also focused on strategic energy and transport projects initiated by Azerbaijan.
Additionally, the delegations shared insights on collaboration within international organizations and reviewed preparations for the COP29 conference, which Azerbaijan is set to host in November.
Regional issues were also a focus of attention. The Belgian delegation received updates on the post-conflict situation in the region, including the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, Azerbaijan's efforts to promote lasting peace, the threats posed by landmines in recently liberated territories, and the extensive reconstruction efforts underway in the areas.
