Azerbaijani delegation to observe elections in Moldova
A delegation from Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) has arrived in Chisinau to monitor the upcoming referendum and presidential election in Moldova, scheduled for October 20.
The visit was made at the invitation of the president of the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Azerbaijani delegation includes CEC Deputy Chairman Rovzat Gasimov, and head of the International Relations Department Rashid Yusifbayli.
During their stay, they will meet with President of the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova Angelica Caraman and other officials to discuss opportunities for enhancing inter-agency collaboration and exchanging of experience.
Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Moldova on October 20, 2024.
In addition, a referendum on whether Moldova should join the European Union is to be held on the same day as the presidential election.
On April 17, 2024, Parliament speaker Igor Grosu announced the holding of the presidential election in conjunction with the referendum on joining the European Union on October 20. The decision was approved by the Parliament of Moldova on May 16.
